Spin the wheel Drawing ideas
Prompts for sketchbooks and art classes
The prompts mix easy subjects with small scenes. "A coffee mug" or "A sunflower" suits a five-minute warm-up or a beginner. "A lighthouse in a storm" or "An underwater castle" can fill a whole afternoon with a background, light and mood.
Art teachers spin it at the start of class so nobody spends twenty minutes deciding. People keeping a daily sketchbook use it to break the habit of drawing the same three things. Kids like the silly ones, so a dinosaur in a raincoat usually gets a laugh before the pencils come out.
None of the prompts involve cartoon or movie characters, so students practice their own designs rather than copying a reference. Add your own ideas, like a field trip you just took or a topic from a lesson, and remove whatever is too hard for your group.

Using the wheel for a drawing session
- Spin once and read the prompt aloud, or show it full screen with Present.
- Set a timer: 5 minutes for a quick sketch, 30 for a finished piece.
- Want a combo prompt? Spin twice and put both results in one drawing, like a robot walking a dog inside a mushroom village.

Drawing wheel questions
Is there an easy version for young kids?
Remove the scenes and keep simple objects: the cactus, the bowl of fruit, the frog, the slice of pizza, the jellyfish. Save it as its own wheel under My wheels for next time.
Can I use this for a 30-day drawing challenge?
Yes. Choose Remove from wheel after each day's spin, and the prompts already drawn are set aside. With 48 entries you have more than a month of daily prompts with no repeats.
How do I add style or medium as a twist?
Make a second wheel with entries like "pencil only", "use three colors", "draw it tiny" or "left hand". Spin the prompt wheel and then the twist wheel.
Can my art class all spin the same wheel at home?
Press Share and post the link to your class page. Each student opens the full list in their own browser, no account needed.
